Prayer on the Camino

For many years, Christians from all over Europe have traveled great distances to see the remains of Santiago (St. James) the Apostle in Compostela. Today the Camino has experienced a boom that goes beyond the Christian boundaries because many pilgrims travel its paths without faith as their reason for doing so., but it is becoming a spiritual experience for everyone. What is it that is attracting so many people today to do the Camino?

Recently, someone told me that God had created the Camino de Santiago a thousand years ago to be used today as a mode of evangelization in this secular time. When he said this we both got goose bumps and I took this as a sign that what he was saying was inspired by the Holy Spirit.
