Be Receptive to Things and People

Be receptive to things and people; accept them as they are. In personal relationships, let others be what they freely choose to be, and , with a spirit of love, accept their decisions. Stop competing and comparing yourself with others.

Accept others as they are. In personal relationships, let others be what they freely choose to be, and, with a spirit of love, accept their decisions. Stop competing and comparing yourself with others. Sometimes on the Camino we lost hope of our ability to keep walking. There is always someone who walks faster than we do or who has walked a longer distance. It is the same in life. We have to accept that each person is the way he or she is. Other people are some of our greatest treasures that we encounter on the Camino. In our daily life we are used to a society that is divided by class and rank and it is difficult to treat one another as equals. We have to understand that we’re the same, that we all need one another. He who is full of himself does not know how to listen, help, express himself, or accept help from others.
